A Review of the LTX-L Internal Laser
I bought two Beamhit units about twenty something years ago. They are basic models with external lasers and receiving units. They have been workhorses over the years. I put them on ladders around my training space at times to simulate a high shot/headshot. At times they have been knocked off and fallen upon the floor and each time I expected to find the unit broken…But no I put it back to work : It worked! (I don’t recommend a torture testing of the units. It is just wonderful in the age of plastic when a product displays some durability.) The lasers have shot tens of thousands of light “rounds” and still work well. There was a time when I would dry fire 1000 times in a once a week dry fire session. So I may have put closer to a hundred thousand or more shots on each laser. Still, most every time I drop the hammer on a round or striker in the case of a Glock the laser emits a pulse.
My one gripe with Beamhit in the past was their customer service left me wanting. My feeling was they were prioritizing their business to the military and neglecting the civilian customer. I recently called them to get a new internal rod for one of the lasers. (It took a long while but finally one rod went kaput and another is lost somewhere amongst my gear..) I spoke to Frank Goza the new owner of Beamhit. He worked for them in the past and recently bought the company. He is a real gentleman and seems totally invested in the customer as much as in the company. He recommended that I try the new Cowboy action shooting internal rod besides getting an internal rod for my external laser. He promised to refund me if it did not work in my firearms.
I have a Glock 23 chambered for 40 S&W and an H&K also chambered in 40 S&W. Frank did say that the Glock striker probably would be too light of a force to make the laser work. He was correct on that. I was disappointed because I have wanted a quality internal laser for many years but their prices were beyond my budget. Despite my disappointment I appreciated Frank’s forthrightness. Since, The H&K has an external hammer Frank thought it might have enough impetus to trip the laser. It also did not work in the H&K. I did not mention to Frank that my model is the LEM trigger which provides a consistent trigger pull. That internal modification probably prevents the heavy hammer fall that is needed to make the laser send a beam out. I also wanted to try it in a friend’s .357 with a four inch barrel but that gun was unavailable.
The LTX-L Internal Laser is well designed with the laser housed in a light weight brass(?) sleeve. A miniature battery pack, which is included with the purchase, is dropped in the brass sleeve. It also comes with a plastic sleeve into which the brass sleeve is inserted. The plastic protects the internal barrel and there are 3 plastic inserts in 38/.357,10mm/40 Cal.,.44/.45 Cal which wedge and align the laser appropriately to the barrel’s diameter. An end cap in bright orange finishes off the assembly and acts as the on/off switch and safe gun indicator.
World class shooters are said to fire 99 “dry” rounds for every 1 live round. Here is a product that gets you closer to being a better shooter than you are today. It gives instantaneous feedback. It’s well made. It’s a simple straight forward process to assemble. My regret is I don’t have a heavy hammered firearm for it. It’s a really nice product. It was sold in the past at $400.00. It now sells for $135.00! (It’s a steal at the new price.) Which makes it very modestly priced in the laser dry fire industry.

Customer service is key and Frank is all about it! I recently ran into some hard times with the tornado's in New Orleans... Frank immediately provided a replacement software key to get my training back on track. I can't say enough about what it meant for him to show me such service!
Cudos Frank... I work at an indoor shooting range and I will definitely be promoting the Beamhit system to all of my clients for practicing on the road or at home.
